Vigilantes Set To Work, Raid Hideouts For Mkpurummiri Drug Dealers In Anambra (Videos)

The youths and local Vigilante group in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State have started raiding hideouts in search of drug dealers in the community, Nicolekaima’s blog reports.

According to the videos seen, a combined team of security agents and local vigilantes could be seen with Crystal meth, Cocaine and some weapons which they had recovered from a hideout.

The youth leader who recovered the illegal items, revealed that they started the operation in order to, “sanitize Agulu from the deadly drug which is now spreading in the East and destroying youths”.

The team also arrested two suspects in one of the hideouts — an uncompleted building which according, to youth leader, is the hottest spot for Mkpurummiri sellers and drug users in the community. Agulu, which is the hometown of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi and home to the popular Agulu Lake, is one of the towns in the State that has seen a rise in the Crystal meth menace.

In a bid to tackle it, most Anambra communities have subjected youths who use Mkpurummiri to public displays of disciplinary actions. Just recently, youths in Oba community imposed 500 lashes on drug offenders, to serve as a deterrent to prospective drug users.
