KWASU Lecturer In Hot Water For Organizing Exam Resits For Female Students In His Room

A lecturer of the Kwara State University (KWASU) identified as Pelumi Adewole, has landed himself in trouble after he allegedly arranged an examination resit for a female student in his bedroom.

Adewole was arrested by the state intelligence bureau and brought before a magistrate’s court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital for offences bordering on sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and examination malpractices, among others.

 According to the police first information report, a student of the department of pure and applied science of KWASU had written a petition, dated October 15, 2021, complaining of being sexually harassed by the lecturer. 

 The student alleged that, in September 2021, Adewole called and threatened to fail her in the forthcoming exams if she failed to have sex with him.

 The police were said to have instructed the student to play along with him in order to obtain evidence.

The lecturer was alleged to have lured the student into his room along Taoheed Road, Basin Area, Ilorin, where he gave her a question paper and answer script of KWASU to rewrite her exam.

 It was learnt that the said lecturer planned on having sex with the lady till daybreak.

 At the court sitting, the lecturer pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Ibrahim Mohammed, the magistrate presiding over the case, granted the accused (Adewole) bail in the sum of N200,000 with a surety in like sum. The case was adjourned till December 8.
