A ghastly accident occurred on Friday evening, October 2, when a truck conveying hollow cement blocks ran
into a parked trailer at Ariaria old express road before Tonimas Junction Aba, Abia state.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck rammed into the parked trailer which was loaded with scrap metals meant for recycling.
It was gathered that few minutes before the accident, some police officers had stopped the driver of the trailer, ordering him to park at a corner – which he did.
It's however if the accident occurred due to brake failure or over speeding on the part of the truck’s driver.

Immediately after the crash occurred, passers-by rushed to the scene and rescued the driver who was slightly injured while the passenger in the other seat remained stuck in the mangled vehicle.
Sources say efforts made to pull the injured passenger from the truck was futile for a while – at this point, the injured teenage boy had lost so much blood.
Despite the being seriously , suffering a broken leg and hand, the boy remained strong, doing all he could to aid his rescue.
Finally with the help of a towing van, he was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
