Man Attempts Suicide Over Failure To Marry Buhari’s Daughter In Kano

Police command in Kano State, have foiled a prospective suicide of a 22-year-old man identified as Abba
Ahmed, who threatened to kill himself if the daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, Hanan, did not marry him.

According to reports, Hanan married Turad Sha’aban, a special adviser to the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Friday, September 4, in a private ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Abdullahi Haruna, police spokesperson in the state, told newsmen that the police talked Mr Ahmed out of suicide.

“We were able to invite Abba Ahmed to the police command. He was counselled by the Force PRO, DCP Frank Mba, as well as Kano CP, Habu Sani, and the command’s imam, SP Abdullkadir Haruna, via a virtual session, at the end of which he rescinded his earlier decision to hang himself. He regretted his comments that if he did not marry the President’s daughter, Hanan, he would hang himself,” the spokesperson said.

Quoting Ahmed, who allegedly apologized for his comments, Haruna said; “I realised that my intention is not healthy. Henceforth, I will never again attempt to find myself in such a situation.”
