A total of seventeen cows and two sheep has been struck dead by lightning in Iba, in Ifelodun Local
Government Area of Osun State.
According to an eyewitness reports, the unexpected incident happened on Friday, 22nd November at a mostly Fulani herdsmen populated community called Gaa Eleesun.
It was also disclosed that several individuals in the community were also injured by the thunderstorm, which struck around 6:00pm, causing chaos and serious apprehension.
Chief Jimoh Soliu who is the leader of Gaa Eleesun community, lamented over the development. He spoke about the loss of the animals.
According to him: "We had just returned from pasturing when thunder started striking. We ran into our houses leaving our cows outside. But to our shock, we found 17 cows and two sheep dead outside.
"This is devastating for us because since we have been staying in this community, this strange occurrence has never happened."
