Woman Living With 20 Toes And 12 Fingers For 63 Years

63 year old Kumar Nayak, a woman born with 6 fingers on each hand and 10 toes on each foot has explained how life for her has been with her deformity
as neighbours tend to ‘keep their distance’ from her because they think she’s a witch.

Kumar who lives in the town of Ganjam, in the Indian state of Odisha has lived with the rare condition since she was born and has never been able to go for treatment as she could not afford it.

She disclosed that people living in her town either ‘keep away’ or abuse and accuse her because of her abnormality.

"I was born with this defect and I couldn’t be treated as we belonged to a poor family," she said.

"It has been 63 years I have been in the condition I am today. The residents nearby believe that I am a witch and keep away from me. But sometimes more visitors come to see my condition. I am forced to stay indoors as I am treated differently."

Nevertheless, one neighbour who felt sorry for Kumar had this to say; "I know that she has a medical problem and it has nothing to do with what others believe her to be. I feel so sorry for her that she cannot even afford to get herself treated."
