“Fine Boy No Fit Catch Penalty”, Nigerian Goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye Stirs Up ‘Insecurities’ In Nigerian Men

Before Tuesday, January 11, 2021, many football fans in Nigeria might have never even heard of the name Maduka Okoye, let alone seen the person behind the name.

The German-born Nigerian professional footballer who plays for Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam, started as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Super Eagles.

Okoye had little or nothing to do in the victory against Egypt in Cameroon on Tuesday but while the game was on, his name started to trend on the popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter, as female football fans in Nigeria couldn't quite get enough of the handsome shot-stopper.

Fastforward to the football game on Saturday, January 15, Nigeria recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over Sudan in Garoua to secure top spot in Group D at the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The first two goals came at the first half and it took Moses Simon just 30 seconds of the second half to add a third, but Sudan pulled a goal back with a fortuitous penalty, converted by Walieldin Khedr with 20 minutes left.

Following the penalty that was conceded by the handsome goalkeeper, Nigerian guys proceeded to drag Okoye on twitter, #NGASUD, claiming that he cares more about his looks than catching a ball.

Some others were more concerned by the fact that 80% of the women watching the Nigerian match, were doing so because of the 22-year-old keeper.

However, Okoye’s female fans, who are growing larger by the minute, have defended their hotshot, tweeting that Nigerian men were jealous and projecting their insecurities on Okoye.

Others went ahead to say that, “Na fine Okoye fine. E no kill person”.
