#Fulani Herdsmen Kidnap Farmer In Ondo, Kill OPC Member On Rescue Mission

According to reports, some fulani herdsmen have killed a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Daniel Adejuyigbe and kidnapped a farmer, Solomon Akinmeji, in Iju, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

While Akinmeji was kidnapped on his farm at Okeji farm settlement last Saturday, Adejuyigbe who was part of the search party organised to secure the release of Akinmeji was killed in the kidnappers’ den in the forest.

It was learnt that Akinmeji was on his farm with some other workers when the hoodlums invaded his farm and abducted him while others escaped.

The incident led the youths of the town and members of the OPC to form a search party, in order to rescue the farmer, however Adejuyigbe went missing during the process.

This prompted members of the OPC, the youths and the officials of the Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun, to return to the forest to search for him, however the remains of the OPC member were found inside a shed in the bush.

Narrating the development, Ogundeji Ayodeji, the youth leader in the community explained how a gun battle ensued as the youths in conjunction with the police and the Amotekun Corps invaded the forest on Monday where they engaged the kidnappers.

“We discovered that one of us was missing on Tuesday and we returned to the forest only to found Adejuyigbe dead body in a tent erected by the criminals with his legs and hands tied and eyes blindfolded,” he said.
He added that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue while the whereabouts of the kidnapped farmer remained unknown.
