Horror As Lightning Strikes Two Dead, Two Others Narrowly Escape

Tragedy struck over the weekend, in Nsukka local government area, Enugu state, when lightning struck two
elementary school children dead, while two others were badly injured.

It was gathered that the four pupils between the ages 12 and 15 years hailed from Umunkashi community in Nsukka local government area, Enugu state.

They were reportedly plucking mangoes at Joint Primary school of the community when the lightning charge killed two instantly and injured the other two pupils.

It was also gathered that in the early hours that fateful day of the terrible incident, the sky threatened rainfall. Then, there was a thunderstorm without rainfall of any sort throughout the day.

The two deceased pupils identified as Asogwa Nnadozie in primary six and Wisdom Nnasom in primary two, were the ones who climbed the mango tree while the other two waited at the foot of the tree collecting the fruits.

The children who were badly injured were rushed to Michael Obayi memorial hospital, Nsukka for medical attention and are currently recovering from the tragic event.
