    Imo State Assembly Stops Pension For Former Governors And Speakers


    The Imo State House of Assembly, has on Thursday, May 21, passed into law a bill which will stop past governors and speakers from receiving pensions and other privileged allowances.
    The executive bill was presented by the Majority Leader of the House, Uche Ogbuagu and was given a speedy hearing.

    In an interview with reporters, the Majority Leader said the bill would go a long way in saving cost for the government of Imo State. 

    According to him, the State loses a huge sum of about N1.3bn annually to offset the bills, a sum he described as humongous enough to pay workers’ salary.

    He applauded the Governor, Hope Uzodinma for agreeing to the bill, adding that Imo State will soon enjoy the benefits derivable from the law.
    Uche Ogbuagu is the member representing Ikeduru State Constituency in the Imo House of Assembly.
