The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has taken a step further to ensure that the ban on interstate travel remains effective in the spate of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to eyewitness reports from a commuter, the anambra government has erected gates at the borders of the state, shutting it completely. Also, security agents and taskforce were put in place to man the gates.

Recall that Obiano, in a state-wide address on Saturday April 25, directed churches in the state to reopen. He further stated that all worshippers must wear face masks and observe all safety and preventive measures as prescribed by health experts.
He lifted the ban on intra-state movement, but ordered that the state borders remain closed.
However the borders were still porous, and travellers still found ways to get in and out of the state, hence the reason for installing the border gates.
