According to eyewitness reports, drivers who ply the Badagry Express Way in Lagos are protesting against the high fees imposed on them by Policemen who man the checkpoints.
According to the source, the demonstration started on Friday morning, May 22. All the roads were blocked by the protesting drivers, who carried placards around to express their displeasure.

A driver who was brandishing his placard, tagged the monies being collected by the Policemen as ‘extortion’, he claimed that it was too much, as they barely got any profits from the transport business, especially since the amount the Policemen took, tripled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here's what the eyewitness said;
“Came out this morning, heading to the office only to see all road blocked by drivers plying the badagry express way.
“From agbara to badagry they are more than 20 police checkpoint. Each collecting a minimum of 100 naira each.

“But During the COVID-19 lockdown it has tripled. Some points collect 300naira while some 500 naira. Just for no reason.
“And it also making the fare in badagry very expensive. They keep saying that it is their boss in the office that always send them... Please help oooo.”
