    Bayelsa: Election Results Mysteriously Dissappear Hours After Lyon's Sack


    The election results for the Bayelsa elections held in November 2019, has gone missing from the website of the
    Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), just hours after the Supreme Court sacked David Lyon as the Governor-elect.

    According to reports, when it was checked as at Friday morning, it showed that the results of the polls held only three months ago were no longer available. Presently, there are only results for 29 states available on INEC’s website.

    David Lyon was declared winner of the elections by polling 352,552 votes, on the other hand, Douye Diri got 143,172 votes.

    However, Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) had sought for the disqualification of Lyon’s running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, for allegedly falsifying his results.

    Mary Odili led a panel of judges, who on Thursday, voided the joint ticket of Lyon and Degi-Eremienyo over certificate forgery.

    The apex court set aside their participation in the governorship election and ordered INEC to issue a Certificate of Return to Douye Diri.
