Man kills Wife in Lagos... Absconds

A woman named Ronke Bewaji Shonde has reportedly been beaten to death by her husband yesterday morning May 6th at their home in Tiemo Crescent off Awori street in Egbeda Lagos. A family friend said that Ronke and her husband had a fight in the early hours of

yesterday at their home while their kids were sleeping. One neighbour later said he heard the noise coming from their flat early this morning but didn’t think it was something horrific going on in the home.
The couple’s nanny came to the house by 7am to resume work as usual, only to find the house locked and no one was opening the door. She tried to call her madam but her phone was switched off. She peeped through the window only to find the couple’s two kids crying and saying they couldn’t wake their mum up. By this time, neighbours had also gathered and they forcefully opened the door to find Ronke’s lifeless body on the floor, blood gushing out of her head.

The said husband, Lekan Shonde, was nowhere to be found. Ronke’s phone was also missing. He’d locked the kids with their dead mum in the house and absconded, with her phones.

According to family friends, Ronke suffered domestic violence in her husband’s hands for many years but refused to leave the marriage. Her corpse has long been deposited in a mortuary, she was in her mid-30s. See more photos...
