Biafra: Judge, Nnamdi Kanu Absent at Court

The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of
Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was stalled today, 18,
January 2016, as the presiding judge of the case
Justice, John Tsoho as well as Nnamdi Kanu were
absent at the court.
Pandemonium erupted when new lawyer Barrister
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, appeared as the legal representative
of the IPOB leader instead of Barrister Vincent
Obetta who has been representing the IPOB leader.
However Nnamdi Kanu’s brother who was not

comfortable with the change of Barrister Vincent

Obetta, asked Ejiofor to leave, stressing that
Barrister Vincent Obetta remains the only
recognized counsel to the IPOB leader.
It is believed that Ejiofor was contacted by the father
of Kanu’s wife, due to disagreements between
Kanu’s wife and the family of the IPOB leader on
who should represent Kanu in court.
It can be recalled that the Movement for the
Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB) last week, issued an ultimatum to the
Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu on or
before January 18, 2016, but the government is yet
to bend in to such demands.

Meanwhile, contrary to reports in some quarters
that the IPOB leader Kanu, was been tortured in
custody, his recognized legal representative,
Vincent Obetta, has debunked the report, stressing
that Kanu is of good health and is in high spirit.
In a related development, Igbo Socio-cultural group,
Ohaneze Ndigbo has pleaded with the Federal
Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to
release Nnamdi Kanu to them, has they assured the
President that they will make him realize the futility
of continuing his pro-Biafra stance.
However, due to the absence of the judge as well as
Kanu, the case was adjourned to 21 January, amid
speculation that another judge might be appointed
for the controversial trial.
