Reactions As Man Held By FRSC For Using Expired Tyres Discovers That Their Van Tyres Were Also Expired

A motorist identified as Lema Jonathan, has called out the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for allowing its officials use a van with four expired tyres.

Jonathan revealed that the officials arrested and booked him because his vehicle tyre had expired but when he checked the tyre of their patrol van used, he discovered that all four of them were also expired.

Reacting to this, another man identified as Chibuike Charles Ogbonna, who have also been arrested by FRSC for similar reasons narrated his own experience.

According to Ogbonna, he had also discovered that the tyres used by the officials had expired long before his did.

“In 2017 close to 7&8 bus stop, airport road; two FRSC officials stopped me to check my car, they checked my documents and safety equipment and saw everything was complete,” Ogbonna recounted.

“One of them bent down to check my tyres and boom he stood up and said one of my tyres had expired by 2yrs, I said oga come and show me with your own tyre.

“I went to their vehicle and saw they were using a tyre of /05/06 production date It was then I told them their own tyres were long expired but one of them said it was none of my business, omg.

“I told him to take me to their office that I was ready for them I wanted to meet the lagos sector commander himself. Me and them were there till they got tired and asked me to carry my wahala and go. I made a mistake of not going live on social media that day as we were arguing it. Crazy people!”

“It's a shame that the federal road safety are guilty of the offense that they are penalizing motorists for. Typical of government agencies to enforce unrealistic standards. New tyre in the market now is for the extremely rich.” — Henry Omoraka
