    Fulani Bandits Kill Nigerian Army Colonel, Others


    A Nigerian Army lieutenant-colonel has been killed in an ambush by fulani bandits, along with two other soldiers
    and civilians.

    The colonel identified as M.Z Manu was fatally wounded in action after a successful clearance patrol in ‘Operation Sahel Sanity’ in Katsina.

    A security source said the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, invaded the village on motorcycles before launching the deadly attack.

    The killing of Manu happened five days after another, colonel, D.C. Bako, was killed in a Boko Haram ambush in Borno State.

    “His death is not only a loss to the 49RC but to the NA and the entire country,” the official said under anonymity on Friday afternoon.

    Katsina State had in recent months been grappling with security challenges posed by fulani kidnappers, bandits and rustlers.
