Pandemonium As Youths Burn Down Fulani Cow Market In Oyo



According to reports, some youths in Igangan, Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo state on Friday, January 15 set fire to a cow market, that was previously shut down in Igangan town.

There was an agreement by the dwellers in the area that the market should be shut down due to insecurity in the Ibarapa axis of the state, Daily Trust reports.

A source quoted in the report revealed that after setting the market on fire, the youths went to the settlement of Serikin Fulani of Oyo state, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir. 

According to the source, the youths warned Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir and his children to ensure that the issues of insecurity stop permanently in the area. 

Earlier, two cow markets in the Igbo Ora-Ideere axis had been shut down, owing to the suspicion that some suspected kidnappers could move freely with herders.
It would be recall that General Kunle Togun (rtd), former boss of the Directorate of Military Intelligence and current chairman, Oyo state Amotekun corps, stated that foreign Fulani herdsmen are planning to overrun the southwest region of Nigeria.

According to him, the increase of banditry and kidnapping in the southwest is as a result of foreign terrorists’ infiltration of the region.
