The Federal Government of Nigeria has apologized on Twitter after Nigerians expressed outrage following an
announcement made via their official twitter handle on Thursday, September 17.
The Nigerian government had ordered that all persons holding accounts across financial institutions and insurance firms should complete and submit Self-certification forms.

However, Nigerian twitter users condemned the directive, as they wondered what the Bank Verification Number (BVN), was for. Others wondered why the government would make such demand in the middle of a pandemic.
The Federal Government has now deleted the controversial tweet, while apologizing to Nigerians adding that the directive was not applied to everybody.
