Boko Haram Used Donkey To Try To Bomb Gov. Zulum’s Convoy In Third Attack

A state official has told newsmen that Boko Haram used a donkey strapped with improvised explosive devices
(IEDs) to ambush the convoy of Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.

There has now been three attempts on Zulum’s life in just two months, with the first attack taking place in July when he accused the military of masterminding it.

Kaka Lawan, Borno Commissioner for Justice revealed that the governor was first attacked with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which they planted on the route his convoy was taking. Then on the second occasion, they used a donkey laden with IEDs.

The first attack resulted in the death of 30 persons mostly security operatives but that there were no casualties for the second.

Lawan who was part of the governor’s delegation during the two attacks in Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area, recounted their ordeal.

He said;
“We were on our way from Monguno to Baga when terrorists detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at three different locations. All the bombs went off at the same time.

“Then they followed us with a shot. It took more than 20 minutes for the shots to be fired before the terrorists withdrew.

“While returning from Baga, the insurgents planted IEDs on a donkey on the road and loaded it with water like a cannon.
