Man Cuts Off Son’s Hand For Joining Cult In Calabar

A man identified as Mr Sunday Brown in Nyomidibi community near Nyangasang town in Calabar, the Cross
River State capital, has severed the wrist of his son, Mathew, over alleged involvement in cultism.

The incident happened on Thursday morning, August 6, following another bout of face-off between son and father, which sources say, was a regular thing.

A youth leader in the community, who goes by Timothy Sam, told newsmen that Mathew had been arrested several times by the police over his attitude and Illegal activities he carries out at nights.

“Early yesterday morning, Sunday allegedly retaliated by attacking his father. His father in self-defence used a machete to cut off his wrist”, he said.

According to reports from a source close to the family, the lingering feud between father and son has now torn the community apart, with suspected cultists who, in showing solidarity with their colleague, have threatened to retaliate.

The Police spokesperson for the State, Irene Ugbo, said she was yet to be briefed about the incident but that it would be investigated.
