Nigerians And Ghanaian Police Clash After They Shot And Killed A Nigerian Man

An angry mob has besieged the Gomoa Buduburam Police Station in the Central Region of Ghana, after a Nigerian was shot dead by a member of the Ghana Police Force for reasons still unknown.
Narrating the incident, the deceased’s wife who is also a new mother said, Precious had come to see her hours before the incident at a hotel where they were lodging, to inform her that someone had threatened kill him.

She said they then left the hotel to go to their home as her husband was anxious about the threat from this person. They made a detour on their way to a friend’s house, and this is where the incident happened, as her husband was heard screaming out for help because his assailant seemed to be chasing him.

The screaming alerted the neighbours and people in the vicinity to the spot, and according to her, it seemed that the assailant fled at this point.

She added that her husband then decided to go after the person chasing him but he did not return.

She revealed that she later got a phone call from someone who told her that her husband had been admitted at the hospital after sustaining a knife injury. On receiving the call, she immediately went to the hospital and was prevented from seeing her husband, when she insisted.

“When I insisted that I wanted to go see him they said no and locked me in the room.

“I later realised the police have shot and killed my husband. He has opened a shop for me here and people around know him very well…he is hardworking and does not steal so I don’t know why he was killed,” the mother of a 5-week-old baby added.
It was learnt that this angered the Nigerian community in the area as they quickly mobilized and stormed the police station to seek answers as to why the man Precious was murdered. They demanded answers for his death and some of them threw stones at the police station as they chanted.

At this point, the Policemen requested for backup, which turned up soon enough to restore calm to the station and its surrounding areas.
