Police Officer Caught On Video Negotiating Bribe With Motorist

A Nigerian police officer has been caught on camera negotiating and collecting bribe from a motorist. In a
two minutes long video, the officer's face could be seen clearly in his police uniform, haggling the amount he wanted to collect from the commuter.

The police officer bantered with the driver until he got the amount he needed, before he released him. The man in uniform outrightly declined the amount he was given and insisted on collecting what he said was due to him — ₦500.

He made threats to seize the driver’s license of the motorist and, as if trying to reinforce his position on the amount he was going to collect, he slipped his hand in his pocket and brought out wads of crumpled notes, and asked the driver, if he saw any little change in the bunch.

Speaking in pigdin English he compared the driver to the fulani people, who he probably believed to be thrifty in nature, urging the motorist not to act like them.
