A yet to be identified young man was on Tuesday afternoon, June 2, gunned down while on a robbery Operation in the Elelenwo axis of Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
It was gathered that the foiled robbery operation took place at Divine Supermarket at 293, Old Refinery Road in Port Harcourt.

According to reports, the three-member gang had arrived earlier at the Supermarket in a Toyota Corolla with plate number Lagos JJJ-104AG, to rob the Supermarket which is quite popular in the area.
However, in a twist of events, they were confronted by Police Operatives attached to Estate Eliminiigwe II in the area, who engaged them in a serious gun battle.
While the gun battle ensued, two members of the gang managed to escape, but one was shot dead, left in his own pool of blood, as his gang members scampered for safety.
The gory scene attracted residents of the area who trooped in to watch the robber who lost his life today.

The car the robbers came in, was also abandoned at the scene.
