Gov. Fayemi Speaks On Being Barred From Seeing Buhari, Blames Presidential Aide

The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has debunked the reports that he was barred from seeing President Muhammadu Buhari, when he visited the Aso Presidential Villa, adding that he didn't see him because he didn't want to see him.

The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, accused a senior presidential aide of fabricating the story.

He claimed that the senior aide, who is a former lawmaker, told close associates that he would battle him with “falsehood and cheap blackmail”.

According to the statement, Fayemi said he had no plan to see Buhari on Tuesday, as he had met him earlier in the day, alongside Governor Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Governor Simon Lalong (Plateau).

The Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami were also present at that meeting.

“The Ekiti State Governor was never denied any opportunity to see President Buhari as he did not ask to see the President and neither did he go with Chief Giadom,” the statement read.
The statement however, did not disclose the name of the accused senior presidential aide.
