47 People Killed In Organized Attacks By Fulani Bandits In Kastina


There was simultaneous attacks by bandits at Kurechin Atai; Kurechin Dutse; Kurechin Giye; Makauwachi and
Daule villages in Katsina State on Saturday, which led to the gruesome death of forty seven people.

Here's a breakdown of the number of people that died in each village;

At Kurechin Atai in the Danmusa Local Government Area – 14 people died.

At Kurechin Giye in the Dutsinma Local Government Area – 4 people died.

At Kurechin Dutse, also in the same council (Dutsinma) – 6 people were killed.

At Makauwachi in Safana LGA– 19 people were killed.

At Daule also in Safana Local Government Area – 4 people lost their lives.

SP Gambo Isah, the police spokesman for Kastina State, confirmed the development on Sunday, saying that the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday.

According to him, trouble started about 12:30 on Saturday morning, when the fulani bandits attacked Kurechin village and the villagers repelled them. The villagers, thereafter had made bonfires of empty corn stalk to further scare off the bandits and keep the village safe.

Some local vigilantes called Yansakai then reportedly set ablaze some Fulani settlements at Aibon Mangwaro village, also in the same council (Danmusa).

The police spokesman further revealed that three hours later, there were reports of organised and simultaneous attacks in all the villages where the casualties were recorded.

Here's what he said in part; “Detachments of Police, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Airforce, Civil Defence and DSS have been drafted to the area while operation is still ongoing by the combined joint forces.”
