Hausa Traders Storm The Streets In Protest As SARS Kill One In Ogun


It has now been confirmed that one of the traders who got hit in the head by a stray bullet from a SARS operative's gun
is dead. Violence has now erupted in the seedy Olomore Market, Abeokuta as dozens of Hausa traders trooped out to protest the death of one of them during alleged shooting by Operatives of the Special Anti–Robbery Squad (SARS).

The Hausa traders selling onions, pepper, tomatoes, yam and fruits, allegedly went violent, smashing objects, disrupting normal activities, including destroying the operational vehicle of the Ogun State-owned Television broadcasting station and many other property in sight.

Recall, SARS operatives were said to have chased a suspected criminal towards the Olomore market and fired at him when he ran into the midst of the traders. The bullets hit two traders in the process, stirring the angry reactions from the Hausa sellers.

The traders in Olomore market were soon joined by those from nearby Lafenwa market, who got wind of the shooting and took to the Lafenwa-Abeokuta-Lagos expressway, causing a major traffic jam.

They marched towards Olomore with bonfires mounted in various locations on the ever-busy road. Many people fled the scene in different directions seeking solace from impending harm. Business activities abruptly came to a halt.
