Details On The Nigerian Killed In The Ukrainian Plane Shot Down By Iran

A Nigerian man named Dauda Onoruoiza happened to be among the 176 passengers and crew that were
killed on Wednesday when a missile from the Iranian forces hit Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 departing for Kiev.

The missile destroyed the Boeing 737-800 aircraft few minutes after taking off from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

According to reports, Onoruoiza who was originally from Kogi state, until his death, was working with Boeing on a three-month training in Ukraine and was attached to the Boeing 737-800 to fly with and study the mechanical noise of the aircraft and report back to the company because the said plane was scheduled for maintenance in Ukraine on Monday, January 13, 2020.

The nationality of passengers and crew aboard the plane were given as 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 people from Sweden, four from Afghanistan and three from the United Kingdom and Germany respectively.

It is still unclear what passport Onoruoiza used to board the flight before tragedy occurred, and
Boeing is yet to officially acknowledge that it had an employee on the crashed plane.

However, The US aircraft manufacturer, posted a condolence message on its website to commiserate with the victims’ families, after the news of the incident broke on January 8.

Here's what he wrote;
"This is a tragic event and our heartfelt thoughts are with the crew, passengers and their families.

"We are in contact with our airline customers and stand by them in this difficult time. We are ready to assist in any way needed.”

Iran apologized on Saturday for mistakenly shooting down the Ukrainian passenger jet, blaming human error and “US adventurism.”
